a blatant lie
On the 2nd, the Ministry of Finance announced that national tax revenue for fiscal 2024 exceeded 75 trillion yen (75.2321 trillion yen), setting a new record high for the fifth consecutive year.
The program highlighted that in the initial budget for January 2024, Takahashi predicted "74.1 to 75.1 trillion yen," while the Ministry of Finance estimated "69.6 trillion yen." Additionally, in the supplementary budget for November 2024, Takahashi calculated "75.2 trillion yen," whereas the Ministry of Finance estimated "73.4 trillion yen"—among other points.
Mr. Takahashi argued that since tax revenue data is submitted to the Ministry of Finance on a daily basis, it is easy to make predictions, yet the government is deliberately announcing a low initial budget tax revenue in order to push for fiscal austerity.
